We work in watersheds around the world where the interplay between climate, development, ecosystems, and society has led to complex water problems requiring multidisciplinary research approaches
 

Florida

Current research at home looks at quantifying urban water pollution (plastics, sediments, and nutrients), monitoring ecological restoration, improving desalination energy efficiency, and watershed planning for water quality improvement in Lake Okeechobee. 

Current projects:

• Predicting Algal Blooms in the Caloosahatchee, Lake Okeechobee and St. Lucie Estuary system

• Plastics pollution in Urban Aquatic Ecosystems

Mekong River basin in south east Asia

We study the interactions between hydrological alterations and floodplain ecosystems in the Mekong and Irrawaddy River Basins.

Current projects:

• NASA Subseasonal forecasting of river discharge

Amazon basin in South america

Past research in the Amazon looks at the interplay between climate, deforestation and hydropower.
