Murat Kayabas

Murat Kayabas completed his MS in Civil Engineering in May 2021.

During his graduate studies, Murat built and characterized a laboratory-scale confined aquifer system capable of simulating injection and withdrawal conditions for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR).  The main objective of his research was to estimate the apparent dispersion coefficient as a function of storage time.

After earning his master’s degree, Murat returned to his home country, Türkiye, and began working for the General Directorate of Water Management.  His current work focuses on drinking-water safety and security projects aimed at providing clean and reliable water for households by considering every component of the water supply system — including surface and groundwater resources, distribution pipelines, treatment facilities, and storage systems — from source to tap.

Murat’s interest in water is not limited to its liquid form.  He is also a figure skating instructor, and when he is not at the office, he is probably on the ice yelling at his students.  :-)
