Welcome to the Advanced Propulsion and Power Laboratory (APPL) at the University of South Florida! Our research focuses on understanding fundamental combustion and fluid dynamics to advance the development of efficient, reliable, and sustainable propulsion and power generation systems. We combine experimental diagnostics, numerical simulations, and theoretical modeling to investigate combustion instabilities, turbulent reacting flows, fuel ignition, and detonation dynamics. Our research spans a wide range of applications, including gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, and pressure-gain combustion systems. Through fundamental research and innovative engineering approaches, we aim to address critical challenges in next-generation propulsion and energy technologies.
