Bio

Yasin Yilmaz received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Columbia University, New York, NY, in 2014. He is currently an associate professor at the University of South Florida (USF), where he directs the Secure and Intelligent Systems Lab. His research focuses on real-time, efficient, and secure machine learning, with a focus on anomaly detection and sequential learning and inference problems (e.g., video understanding, time series forecasting, cyberattack detection), and applications in environmental monitoring, healthcare, intelligent transportation systems, and energy systems. His work has resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the Department of Transportation, and Moffitt Cancer Center. He is listed as a Highly Ranked Scholar by ScholarGPS in anomaly detection and has received the 2023 Outstanding Research Achievement Award from USF, as well as best paper awards from the 2023 IEEE Conference on Dependable and Secure Computing and the 2019 ACM Conference on Recommender Systems.
